"abstract": "Hidradenoma papilliferum is a benign adnexal tumor originating from the apocrine glands and most commonly occurs in the vulvar region. Occurrence of the tumor in the perianal region is relatively rare and can be clinically misdiagnosed as a common benign anorectal lesion. We retrospectively reviewed eight patients diagnosed with perianal hidradenoma papilliferum who underwent surgical excision at a proctology clinic. The clinical features and histopathological findings were analyzed. All patients were women who presented with small perianal nodules measuring 3-10 mm in diameter. The lesions exhibited variable morphological features including central depression, erosion, lobulation, and fissures. Clinically, the lesions were suspected to be benign anorectal conditions. All tumors were treated with local excision. Histopathological examination revealed papillary structures lined with a double-layered epithelium with apocrine secretions. No recurrence was observed during the follow-up. Perianal hidradenoma papilliferum is a rare tumor that may mimic common benign anorectal lesions. Although rare, cases of adenocarcinoma arising within the tumor have been reported. Therefore, clinicians should be aware of this entity when evaluating masses in this region, and when suspected, complete excision of the lesion followed by histopathological examination is recommended.",
