"abstract": "Wastewater treatment facilities (WWTFs) are currently facing multitudes of challenges including incline in population, climate change driven challenges and stringent regulation limits. Ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UV LEDs) are becoming an attractive disinfection system that has demonstrated powerful inactivation capabilities with modular system design, becoming a useful alternative treatment to conventional UV systems. A UVLED full-scale reactor was assessed for real municipal wastewater at the highest reported flow rates with a max flowrate of 2,725 m3 day-1. The reactor showed results ranging between 0.68 and 3 log reduction values for E. coli inactivation across the various high flowrates tested. The results accumulated throughout the study periods was further used to characterize the true capacity of the full-scale UV LED flow through reactor and demonstrated prediction capabilities through a sampling methodology. Furthermore, statistical analysis conducted between the two full-scale systems at the study site predicted probabilities of 66.5 and 25.6% of the UV LED system and conventional UV system for achieving 3 LRVs based on the data available throughout the study. Overall, the results provided by this study and the previous study by MacIsaac et al. (2024) demonstrated the performance and pluralist treatment variability of UV LED systems for wastewater treatment.",
