"abstract": "High-dimensional driven–dissipative systems are often described either microscopically or through reduced models whose relation to the underlying dynamics is unclear. Originally motivated by geometrygated catalytic and enzymatic dynamics, the construction is developed here independently of any particular molecular application. We formulate the Gated Quantum Resonator (GQR) as a controlled reducedrepresentation framework in which selected coherent coordinates are modulated by structural or environmental gates. The retained coordinates are supplied by an upstream modelling step; no projection or truncation algorithm is introduced. From a gate-dependent Hamiltonian we develop complementary mode, network and port–Hamiltonian representations, distinguishing exact preservation properties from phenomenological closures requiring independent validation. Open-system dynamics are introduced through a GKSL generator. For the linear lossless sector, the specified mechanical–network map exactly preserves normal-mode frequencies and modal eigenspaces, while matched input–output equality is a consistency property by construction. An exactly solvable lossy three-state bridge then shows that a previously proposed coupling–loss–dephasing coordinate does not select a universal microscopic transport optimum. The framework therefore treats reduced models as generators of explicit mechanistic hypotheses whose spectral, transport and geometric consequences can be tested, narrowed or rejected by independent physical evidence.",
