"abstract": "The field of transcriptomics has undergone two rela-tively recent revolutions compared to the early disco-veries about the genetic information contained withinour cells. First, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq)has enabled a better characterization of tissue and tumormicroenvironments, confirming what was already known:Tissue heterogeneity cannot be accurately assessedthrough bulk transcriptomic analysis. The second revolu-tion involves studying gene expression linked to spatialinformation. As of this writing, a quick search of theNCBI database using the keywords “spatial,” “transcripto-mics,” and “cancer” yields over 3,000 articles publishedsince 2016, the year this method was introduced to thescientific community. These techniques have been crucialfor understanding the tumor microenvironment in variouscancers. Improvements in these methods suggest an expo-nential growth in publications, similar to the trajectoryobserved with scRNA-seq. Without being exhaustive, thisreview highlights the impact of spatial transcriptomics onthe understanding of certain hematologic malignanciesand its clinical relevance.",
