"abstract": "Seizure initiation in human peritumoral tissue follows a dual dynamic: a slow synchronized activity gradually builds to a plateau, while a high-frequency activity marks the transition to seizures, spatially organizing into accumulating microdomains. Importance of the study This study provides insights into the spatiotemporal dynamics of neuronal activity during the route to seizures within peritumoral tissue, offering a deeper understanding of how epileptogenic processes develop in glioma patients. By characterizing the progressive evolution of preictal discharges and high-frequency events, we reveal that subtle, yet systematic changes occur in amplitude, duration, and spatial distribution well before seizure onset. These findings suggest that the preictal state is not a static transition but a dynamic process involving both temporal escalation and spatial expansion of neuronal activity. The detection of microdomains with high-frequency oscillations at submillimeter resolution underscores the need for ultra-fine recording techniques to fully capture these events. Overall, our results highlight the importance of high-resolution electrophysiological monitoring to identify early biomarkers of seizure generation and to better understand tumor-related network reorganization, paving the way for more precise diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in neuro-oncology and epilepsy.",
