  "abstract": "Essentials Severe postpartum hemorrhage is associated with maternal morbidity and mortality.\n\n We characterized coagulability of predelivery plasmas from pregnant women in a case-control study.\n\n Predelivery endogenous thrombin potential levels measured with the thrombin generation assay were reduced in women with severe postpartum hemorrhage.\n\n Further studies are needed to confirm these data and investigate potential underlying mechanisms.",
