"abstract": "Fiber bundles serve as optical transmission channels in partial-discharge (PD) detection systems, and thermal aging may alter the spectra acquired by external detectors. This study investigated the spectral-response evolution of a silica-based fiber bundle after thermal aging at 85 °C for 0, 24, 72, 168, and 336 h. A simulated-chamber platform using an integrating-sphere broadband source was established to acquire output spectra over 200–920 nm through segmented scanning and stitching. Three repeated measurements, dark-background subtraction, band-integrated output attenuation relative to the unaged state, normalized spectral profiles, and band contribution ratios were used to evaluate output-amplitude loss and spectral redistribution. All analyzed bands showed reduced measured output after aging, with strongly wavelength-dependent attenuation. At 336 h, the attenuation reached 95.6% in the 200–320 nm band and 93.5%–96.4% above 600 nm, compared with 72.6% in the 320–440 nm band. The contribution ratio of the 320–440 nm band increased from 26.3% to 52.7%, indicating comparatively better retention rather than improved transmission. Non-monotonic variations in several bands were not interpreted as material recovery and may reflect residual measurement and coupling variability. A preliminary needle–plate discharge test showed that the fiber bundle aged for 336 h could still transmit detectable optical signals, with a relatively strong response in the 320–440 nm region. These case-based results support the 320–440 nm region as a preferred remaining response window for the tested bundle and provide a basis for band selection, aging calibration, and transmission-margin design.",
