"abstract": "Background\n\nInfertility poses considerable emotional and social challenges and is associated with reduced quality of life among women. The experience of infertility can evoke a range of emotional responses, including stress, anxiety and feelings of loss, which leads to psychological distress, making cognitive-emotion regulation a crucial factor to assess and substantiate its interwoven nature.Aim\n\nThis study aims to explore this intricate display of cognitive emotion regulation (CER) with fertility quality of life (FQoL) among women suffering from infertility.Settings and design\n\nThe present study employed a cross-sectional, correlational research design. Purposive sampling recruited 103 women aged 20-40 years from two different fertility clinics.Materials and methods\n\nParticipants were assessed with a sociodemographic sheet, the CER Questionnaire and the Hindi FertiQoL Scale.Statistical analysis used\n\nThe relationships between the variables were explored using descriptive statistics, correlational analysis and hierarchical regression.Results\n\nThe findings indicate that FQoL is significantly negatively associated with self-blame and overall maladaptive CER (M-CER) and positively associated with refocus on planning. In hierarchical regression, refocus on planning was added as an adaptive strategy and showed a positive trend in predicting FQoL (β =0.194, P = 0.052), whereas self-blame (β = -0.351, P < 0.01) and M-CER (β = -0.075, P < 0.05) emerged as significant negative predictors.Conclusion\n\nThese findings highlight the necessity for focused psychological interventions that assist infertile women in recognising and reducing M-CER strategies while promoting adaptive regulation.",
