"abstract": "Ceramic materials are increasingly recognized as critical enablers in strategic technological sectors, including aerospace, energy, electronics, electric mobility, and healthcare. Their unique combination of thermal stability, chemical resistance, and functional versatility allows them to operate under extreme conditions, supporting advanced applications such as ceramic matrix composites, solid-state batteries, and bioceramics. This article reviews recent advances in ceramic materials and processing, emphasizing the growing impact of additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and nanostructuring approaches. These innovations enable improved control of microstructures and interfaces, facilitating the design of high-performance and multifunctional materials. However, significant challenges remain, particularly in process scalability, interfacial stability, and the understanding of coupled physicochemical mechanisms. In parallel, environmental and resource-related constraints are becoming increasingly critical. The high energy demand of thermal processing, dependence on critical raw materials, and limited recycling pathways highlight the need for more sustainable manufacturing strategies. Approaches such as low-temperature processing, life cycle assessment, and circular economy integration are identified as key levers for reducing environmental impact. Overall, ceramics are positioned at the forefront of major technological and societal transitions. Their future development will rely on interdisciplinary approaches combining materials science, advanced processing, and digital tools to achieve both performance and sustainability objectives.",
