Extending geometric integrators to control systems - an example study

Abstract

In this paper, we study control systems in the context of geometric integrators. On a simple low dimensional example admitting an unstable trajectory, we observe that geometric numerical methods — adapted for a free system — also perform better than the classical ones after adding a control.
