Pappas's conjecture on ramified unitary local models
Abstract
We prove that the wedge local model for a ramified unitary group of signature (r,s) (r>s) at self-dual level is flat when p≥ 2s−1, confirming Pappas's conjecture in this case. The proof first reduces the problem to determining the defining equations of a nilpotent orbit closure of self-adjoint matrices, and then to computing the global sections of the corresponding Kempf resolution. The computation is carried out by reducing to the type A case using the Koszul complex.
