Hyperbolic complex tangencies on a four-sphere

Abstract

We construct a smooth embedding of S4 into ℂ4 whose CR-singular locus is a connected surface of genus two consisting entirely of nondegenerate hyperbolic points. Its image is locally polynomially convex and admits a basis of smoothly bounded, strongly pseudoconvex Stein tubular neighbourhoods.
