Probing black bounce spacetime through mass accretion rate

Abstract

We study steady, spherically symmetric accretion of a collisionless kinetic gas onto a compact object described by the Simpson--Visser (SV) metric, a one-parameter regularization of the Schwarzschild spacetime. Using the standard relativistic Vlasov formalism, we adopt boundary conditions at a finite injection radius R and compute the mass accretion rate Ṁ for Vlasov gas with both monoenergetic and Maxwell--Jüttner distribution functions. Throughout the computation, we also take into account the influence of particle's angular momentum. We carefully investigate the influence of the black bounce parameter on the mass accretion rate Ṁ. By expanding accretion rate in terms of bounce parameter a, we found that the leading-order correction appears at quadratic order in a. This work extends the Vlasov accretion framework to a broader class of spherically symmetric spacetimes and quantifies the impact of the geometric modification on the accretion flow. In particular, since the shadows of the SV and Schwarzschild black holes are degenerate, comparing their mass accretion rates may offer a complementary probe for distinguishing these geometries in future astrophysical observations.
