No detectable infectious agents in Langerhans cell histiocytosis with lung involvement

Abstract

Extract Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare neoplastic disease of unknown aetiology driven by various somatic mutations in the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway [1]. LCH is highly heterogeneous and may affect virtually any organ [2]. Lung involvement is frequently observed in adult LCH patients, almost exclusively in young smokers of both sexes [3].
