Constraining ADD black holes at the LHC with √s = 14 TeV

Abstract

We explore the possibility of the microscopic black hole formation at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the context of the ADD model, for the centre-of-mass energy √s = 14 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 349.4 fb−1 and provide constraints on the black hole mass, MB by taking into account the effects of loss during the formation process of black holes through the parameter ζ. Our analysis reveals that for ζ= 0, black holes with MB ≤ 11.83 TeV are disfavored in the case of three extra dimensions (𝒟), for the reduced Planck scale Λ𝒟) of about a few TeV. The corresponding values for Λ𝒟 = 9 TeV turn out to be about 10.33 TeV. A significant reduction in the aforementioned limits is bserved while the loss gets higher, e.g. for ζ= 0.35, MB reduces to 7.65 (6.82) TeV at Λ𝒟 = 1 (9) TeV. These limits change to 12.03 (10.88) TeV and 7.80 (7.03) TeV respectively for ζ= 0 (0.35) and Λ𝒟 = 1 (9) TeV at 95\% CL in case 𝒟 is raised to seven.
