A uniform commutator bound in finite von Neumann algebras
Abstract
Let ℳ be a finite von Neumann algebra with normalized center-valued trace Tℳ. We prove that every A∈ℳ with Tℳ(A)=0 admits a representation A=BC−CB, where B,C∈ℳ satisfy |B||C|≤ K|A| for an absolute constant K independent of ℳ.
