Structural Obstructions in Auxiliary-Torus Iterative Schemes for Self-Similar NavierStokes Constructions: Idempotent Cuto Remainders and Diophantine Derivative Loss
Abstract
We examine the analytical machinery of the recent preprint Finite Time Blowup for NavierStokes [1], which proposes a forced nite-time singularity for the three-dimensional incompressible NavierStokes equations with smooth, compactly supported external forcing and uniformly bounded kinetic energy. While the macroscopic parabolic similarity scale q(z, τ ) ≍ τ + |z| 1/(1/2-h) is designed to preserve global L 2 (R 3 ) integrability across the exterior heat region for 0 < h < 1/100, the smoothness of the residual force through the singular time t = 1 relies on an innite-stage correction cycle over an extended space-time domain equipped with an auxiliary torus T 2 . In this note, we identify three structural obstructions in the mean-eld and iterative realization steps (Sections 6, 8, and 9 of [1]). First, we prove that the compactly supported radial primitive operator T e and its associated cuto remainder A e f = R -e (∂ R χ m )J (R e f ) satisfy the exact operator identities T e • A e ≡ 0 and A 2 e = A e . Second, we show that this kernel property invalidates the cancellation mechanism invoked in Proposition 9.3 of [1]: the fast-time axial reconstruction error F ax = -c i0 N i0 A 1 γ d generated in Step 3 of the correction cycle lies in the exact kernel of the subsequent mean-eld inverse T 1 • (-c -1 i0 N -1 i0 ) and therefore cannot be canceled by later iterations. Third, because F ax remains trapped in the exact conservative balance E
[j] z , maintaining the inductive decay class M C * j requires absorbing the defect via Diophantine integration by parts along the radial characteristic shift. With the prescribed exponent loss κ s = 10 -5 , each stage increment ∆C * j = 1/10 consumes p ≥ 10 4 additional radial and torus derivatives, while bounding the at remainder at order O(q N ) requires p(N ) ∼ N/(hκ s ) → ∞ derivatives. This coupling between asymptotic decay order and regularity order breaks the stage-independent derivative-loss hypothesis in Lemmas 9.7 and 9.8, obstructing the Boreltype summation of the local velocity eld. Finally, we analyze the boundary sensitivity of the linearized covariance division by the primary wave amplitude 2a σ ∼ ζ(X) at the edges of the active annulus.
