Abstract

As the neuropathology of dementia in the oldest-old differs from that in younger patients, features of mild behavioral impairment (MBI) may also differ between these groups. This report presents the case of an oldest-old man with MBI primarily presenting as affective dysregulation and impulse dyscontrol, which were improved by escitalopram. Along with previous studies, this case suggests that there is a subtle difference in MBI symptoms between older and younger patients; MBI may be an important treatment and care target for improving the quality of life of older adult patients. This case may provide a basis for further investigation.
