Abstract

Influenza is a major public health concern that can cause infection in all age groups while leading to severe complications, hospitalization, and mortality particularly in the presence of risk factors such as advanced age, chronic comorbidities, immunosuppression and pregnancy. This multidisciplinary consensus report aimed to provide primary care physicians with a practical guidance document on adult influenza in terms of diagnosis, treatment, prevention of complications and vaccination through recommendations based on current scientific evidence for use in daily clinical practice. The report was prepared by a multidisciplinary expert panel involving family medicine, infectious diseases and clinical microbiology, internal medicine, endocrinology and cardiology academicians.
