Abstract
The research is focused on the meandering fluvial reservoir of NmⅠ3-2 Formation in Q Oilfield, Bohai Bay Basin. It utilizes core analysis, well logging data, and 3D seismic cube to effectively identify the architectural elements. The study area exhibits six lithofacies types, and the spatial distribution of architectural elements within the study area is determined based on the analysis of logging curves, seismic properties, and sandbody isopach maps. The truncated Gaussian simulation method with trend is employed for random lithofacies simulation of the point bar element. Additionally, the sequential indication simulation method is utilized for random lithofacies simulation of the floodplain, abandoned channel, and crevasse splay elements. Subsequently, a three-dimensional geological model is constructed to accurately depict the internal architecture of meandering fluvial sandbody. The architectural model demonstrates that the point bar element primarily exhibits lateral accretion by the development of high porosity and permeability at the base of the lateral accretion body. Additionally, vertical accretion occurs within the abandoned channel, crevasse splay, and floodplain. The abandoned channels and floodplain consist predominantly of silty mud and mudstone, characterized by low porosity and permeability values. In the floodplain elements, there are some crevasse splay sandbodies with high porosity and permeability. The poor physical properties of the abandoned channel, resulting from the influence of reservoir architecture, contribute to a decrease in tracer advancement speed. The velocity perpendicular to the lateral accretion direction of the tracer is significantly lower than that parallel to the lateral accumulation direction. The pronounced longitudinal heterogeneity of the fluvial channel architecture results in delayed response to water injection in production wells, an extended duration for injection effects to manifest, and relatively limited incremental oil production per well.
