The Yottascale at Tera-Z: Petascale SUSY?
Abstract
As experimental and theoretical advances are made, the paradigm of grand unification faces growing challenges. In light of what has been learned at the LHC, from Higgs mass measurement and direct searches for supersymmetry, we contrast the current theoretical predictions in a simplified supersymmetric grand unified theory against present and future experimental precision, focussing on threshold corrections and renormalisation group effects above the electroweak scale. More precisely, the theoretical precision is juxtaposed to the experimental one. Especially, the impact of a future Tera-Z factory such as FCC-ee is examined, while also considering the expected future improvement of proton decay constraints. We find that the improvement on the measurement of the gauge couplings expected at Tera-Z will yield sensitivity to higher loop orders in the evolution of the couplings up to the Yottascale, calling for further theoretical efforts. In a minimal SU(5) scenario with nearly degenerate SUSY spectrum, we study the impact of the proton decay constraint on the SUSY scale, comparing 2- and 3-loop analyses. While the 2-loop results point to a SUSY scale around 1 PeV, the 3-loop analysis seems to exclude the model entirely. This follows from the fact that at 1-loop in the GUT threshold corrections, the mass of the colour-triplet Higgs is completely determined by the IR parameters. This \textit{IR determination} is not accidental, but rooted in the group structure and breaking of the GUT theory.
