Abstract
In the present work we propose an analytic method that leads to ellipsoidal waves in closed form. This is achieved by reducing 4D ellipsoidal harmonics to 3D ellipsoidal waves via appropriately replacing one of the 4D ellipsoidal coordinates with the time variable. The method is demonstrated in the case of a low-degree harmonic.
