Nonlinear response and retarded three-point correlators of charge transport
Abstract
We study nonlinear response of charge transport in relativistic kinetic theory within the relaxation time approximation. For a classical gas of massless charged particles coupled to an external U(1) gauge field, we organize the Boltzmann equation perturbatively in the source and derive a recursive solution for the distribution function to arbitrary response order. At second order we analytically obtain fully retarded three-point correlators at generic frequencies and momenta, verify the Ward identities implied by charge conservation. We also discuss the general properties of these correlators, including their analytic structure, consistency limits, and relation to Schwinger--Keldysh effective theories of diffusive fluctuations.
