Studies on Rice Seed Storage Protein Synthesis and Accumulation: From Basic Mechanisms to Oral Vaccine Development
Abstract
Since the early 1990s, plant scientists have explored genetically modified plants as bioreactors for the production of valuable therapeutic peptides and proteins. My research has focused on elucidating the mechanisms underlying the synthesis and accumulation of rice seed storage proteins. By exploiting these mechanisms, we established a rice endosperm-based expression system capable of accumulating high levels of recombinant proteins.
