Random Survivor Sets with Moving Holes in Bedford-McMullen Carpets
Abstract
Let 2β€ m < n be integers, and let K(π) be the Bedford--McMullen carpet generated by {(x,y)β¦((x+i)/m,(y+j)/n):(i,j)βπ}, where π is a subset of {0,1,β¦,mβ1}Γ{0,1,β¦,nβ1}. Write β¬ for the set of occupied columns, and assume that #β¬β₯2 and each column contains at least two symbols of π. At each vertex of the column tree β¬*, we independently choose one forbidden symbol from π according to a prescribed distribution. Let β denote the resulting product measure on πβ¬*. This gives a random survivor set KΟ(π) with Οβπβ¬*. We show that, for β-a.e. Ο, dimH KΟ(π)=1/(log m)log(β« βbββ¬βb(Ο)(log m)/(log n) dβ(Ο)), where βb(Ο) is the number of surviving symbols in column b at the root.
