Adapted Fröhlich-Pizzo Model for Horizon-Induced Decoherence
Abstract
The Fröhlich-Pizzo (FP) model is a quantum-mechanical model originally developed to describe the interaction between an atom and the electromagnetic field in the nonrelativistic limit c→∞. We show that an adaptation of the FP model based on the local algebras of a U(1) chiral current captures essential features of the horizon-induced decoherence mechanism identified by Danielson, Satishchandran, and Wald (DSW) in the limit of large holding time T. Our analysis suggests that the effective dynamics of the system undergoing decoherence in the DSW setting retains non-Markovian features. Our approach also offers a glimpse into the possible role of quantum events in the dynamics underlying horizon-induced decoherence.
