Energy-Based Anisotropic Hysteresis Modeling for Permanent Magnets
Abstract
Modeling the anisotropic hysteresis behaviour of permanent magnets requires vector hysteresis models capable of representing preferred (easy) magnetization directions. This work extends the energy-based vector play model to anisotropic materials by replacing the spherical pinning region of each particle with an ellipsoid, whose semi-axes represent direction-dependent pinning forces. Special attention is paid to the geometrically consistent adaptation of the update formula for the vector play model. The anhysteretic part of the model is also given an angular dependency. The model is compared to measurements taken from a NdFeB magnet and reproduces the measured loops for field inclinations of up to 30° from the easy axis.
