Quantum Residues and the Geometry of Perturbative/Non-perturbative Relations

Abstract

We develop a systematic, Whitham-based construction of perturbative/non-perturbative (P/NP) relations for one-dimensional quantum mechanical systems admitting a genus-one WKB period description, and derive a higher-genus formulation under explicit regularity assumptions. We select external deformations that preserve the independent quantum residues and lift them by varying the internal moduli so that the independent perturbative quantum periods remain fixed. The Riemann bilinear identity then determines the induced evolution of the non-perturbative periods through local residue pairings and the inverse period Jacobian. At genus one, this reduces to a relation between the flow of the non-perturbative quantum period and the energy derivative with respect to the perturbative action, providing a constructive connection between the Rayleigh-Schrödinger expansion and fluctuations around non-perturbative saddles. We recover known P/NP relations and derive extensions for explicitly coupling-dependent potentials, which we verify at the computed orders through independent perturbative and non-perturbative period calculations for quantum-corrected quartic and Jacobi elliptic examples.
