Abstract

Background: Cardiogenic shock is a critical syndrome leading to end-organ hypoperfusion and cardiac arrest. This quasi-experimental study evaluated the effect of astructured educational program on critical care nurses' performance and patient outcomes.Aim: Evaluate the Effectiveness of Implementing an Educational Program on CardiogenicShock on Nurses’ Performance and Patients’ Clinical Outcomes. Design and Setting: Aquasi-experimental research design was used to conduct this study. At the IntensiveCardiac Care Unit of Tanta International Teaching Hospital. Subjects and Method: Thestudy involved 40 nurses and 80 adult patients. Data were collected through three validatedresearch tools: Tool I: Demographic data and nurses' cardiogenic shock knowledgequestionnaire. Tool II: Practice observational checklist. Tool III: Patientsociodemographic and clinical/hemodynamic outcomes sheet. Results: Nurses' meanknowledge scores improved significantly from pre-program (26.28 ± 6.528) toimmediately post-program (73.50 ± 8.259). Scores slightly dropped at two months(60.73 ± 6.809), but remained significantly higher than baseline (𝑝 = 0.000). Satisfactorypractice levels increased dramatically from 17.5% pre-program (22.03 ± 14.177) to87.5% immediately post-program (59.43 ± 5.751), settling at 75.0% after two months(48.10 ± 5.022) (𝑝 = 0.000).Moreover the study group showed statistically significantimprovements in hemodynamic stability, reduced hypo perfusion signs, shorter ICU stays, and faster stabilization by days five and seven compared to the control group (𝑝 < 0.05).Conclusion & Recommendation: Implementing a structured cardiogenic shockeducational program significantly enhances nursing knowledge and practice, directlytranslating into improved clinical and hemodynamic outcomes for patients. Continuouseducational programs should be integrated into routine nursing practice.
