A Reading of the Treatise of Aristarchus of Samos on the Sizes and Distances of the Sun and Moon

Abstract

This contribution is a compilation of reading notes on Aristarchus’s Treatise, as it was translated into French by Fortia d’Urban. It is clear that Aristarchus is a master in the art of identifying similar triangles and that he has a deep understanding of trigonometry. However, his prose is not easy to read!
