Real alternative Daugavet property without Daugavet property in a separable complex Banach space

Abstract

We construct a separable complex Banach space whose underlying real space has the alternative Daugavet property, although the complex space fails the Daugavet property, thereby answering an open question posed by Kadets, Martin, and Paya in 2006.
