Supramolecular Preorganisation Enables Reversible Solid-state Photopolymerisation

Abstract

Supramolecular preorganisation enables reversible solid-state photopolymerisation in an oligo(phenylenevinylene)-siloxane material. Photopolymerisation proceeds quantitatively in the ordered state but reaches only ~7% conversion in the disordered melt. Polymerisation disrupts columnar order and alters optical and local-current responses, while thermal depolymerisation largely restores the initial molecular and supramolecular state.
