Probing new C P-violating sources in Λb→Λcℓ-ν̅ℓ

Abstract

While baryonic C P violation has been observed, its potential to reveal new physics beyond the sensitivity of mesonic decays remains an open question. We investigate this potential within semileptonic b→ cℓν̅ℓ transitions by comparing the angular distributions of Λb→Λc(→Λπ)ℓ-ν̅ℓ and B̅→ D*(→ Dπ)ℓ-ν̅ℓ utilizing lattice-QCD form factors. We perform a global fit to R(D(*)) alongside auxiliary C P-even measurements to delineate the phenomenologically viable parameter space for new-physics Wilson coefficients. Leveraging these allowed ranges and the lattice inputs, we evaluate the complementary sensitivity of both angular distributions to novel weak phases. We demonstrate that the baryonic decay mode probes combinations of Wilson coefficients that remain inaccessible in mesonic angular distributions, thereby providing critical supplementary information for identifying new physics.
