Abstract
Efficient and durable bifunctional electrocatalysts are needed for alkaline water splitting. Here, we report a d-LCCO-Ar catalyst that delivers high-performance oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity in 1 M KOH, requiring overpotentials of 190 and 122 mV, respectively, to reach 10 mA cm −2 and maintaining stability for 48 h. Its enhanced activity originates from A-site deficiency, partial Cu substitution by Co, and abundant oxygen vacancies (48.46%) formed by reductive Ar annealing. Compared with pristine LCO, d-LCCO-Ar shows a higher electrochemically active surface area, lower Tafel slopes, lower charge-transfer resistance, and higher turnover frequency (TOF). These results demonstrate an effective strategy for designing cost-effective, noble-metal-free electrocatalysts for alkaline overall water splitting.
