Amplitude-conserving frequency demultiplexer based on a spin wave delay line
Abstract
Propagating spin waves have emerged as promising candidates for signal processing and information transmission. We present a theoretical investigation of the generation, propagation and collection of spin-wave wave packets in micrometer-wide magnetic conduits, highlighting their potential for analogue frequency demultiplexing in space and time. We clarify the roles of the excitation duration and of the spin wave dispersion relation, as well as the influence of the spin-wave linewidth in setting the spatio-temporal evolution of propagating spin-wave wavepackets excited by Gaussian field pulses. We issue rules for the spatio-temporal separation of wavepackets that carry different frequencies. We finally propose an amplitude-conserving frequency demultiplexer based on a spin wave delay line of 60x5 μm2 footprint.
