Abstract

An updated account of the treehoppers (Hemiptera: Membracidae) of Singapore is presented here. The addition of 16 new records increases the known fauna to 52 species (inclusive of 8 morphospecies) distributed across 11 tribes and 17 genera. An annotated checklist is presented, incorporating old combinations, synonyms, type localities, known distributions, host plant associations, ant attendants, and taxonomic remarks. A visual identification key covering 40 locally occurring species is also provided. Together, this study provides a foundation for future research on Singapore’s membracids and contributes to a broader understanding of the still incompletely documented Oriental fauna.
