Abstract

This article presents a dataset on the morphology- and buoyancy-related measurements of Posidonia oceanica fruits. The dataset includes direct measurements of fruit mass, three primary axes, volume, dimensions of the exposed portion of floating fruits, and dorsal protrusion height. In addition to measured variables, the dataset contains derived morphology data via previously measured values and established estimation equations describing fruit submerged and emerged volume when floating, density, total surface area, and exposed surface area when floating. These data provide a resource for analyses of fruit size, shape, density, and buoyancy in P. oceanica . The dataset may be reused in morphometric analyses and trait-based comparisons. It may also provide empirical trait values for future experimental and modelling studies of near-surface fruit dispersal.
