Abstract

Current periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) definitions classify sinus tracts as present or absent. While this binary approach is appropriate for diagnosing PJI, it does not capture the heterogeneity of sinus tracts relevant to surgical decision-making. We propose that future studies explore a standardized characterization of sinus tract complexity to better inform surgical treatment.
