Second-order evolution of spin shear tensor for massive spin-1/2 particles
Abstract
We present the second-order evolution equation for the spin shear component of the spin tensor in spin-polarized fluids, using a classical description of the spin degrees of freedom. Employing a semi-classical kinetic theory for the massive spin-1/2 particles within the relaxation time approximation we obtain a relaxation-type equation describing the evolution of spin shear driven by various thermodynamic forces and high-order gradient corrections. This equation yields a new set of transport coefficients that govern the dynamics of the dissipative spin-shear tensor.
