Abstract

A system of bidirectionally coupled Murali–Lakshmanan–Chua (MLC) circuits represents a nonlinear dynamical system where symmetric coupling induced chaotic interactions and synchronization can be realized. This elegant architecture enhances signal coherence and bifurcation richness, enabling advanced functionalities beyond traditional unidirectional designs. It can be used in many different and powerful ways, especially in advanced electronics and new type of alternative computing. In the present study, investigation unveils a novel implementation of fundamental and universal logic gates OR/NOR and AND/NAND within bidirectionally coupled MLC circuits by exploiting the attractor in different regions of phase space, and we show that the nonlinear circuit is capable of producing fundamental and universal logic gates. It demonstrates remarkable robustness and tolerance to noise due to its intrinsic nonlinear dynamics and symmetrical coupling. These phenomena are also experimentally demonstrated. Thus, our work demonstrates that fundamental and universal logic gates can be implemented using a simple nonlinear circuit. This approach could offer a novel way to construct computer architectures.
