Abstract

A unique technology, based on a chemical process that creates a thin layer of gold inside medieval glass tesserae, has been identified analysing physicochemical test results, within a project conducted by the Anna Langer Memorial Foundation. The samples studied are part of a collection of glass tesserae, discovered in the remains of the palatium of Duke Mieszko I in Poznań, by archaeologists from Adam Mickiewicz University, working under the direction of Prof. Hanna M. Kóčka
