Abstract
Crystal structures of three concomitant pseudopolymorphs of 5,10,15,20-meso-tetrakis(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)porphyrin (1), comprising a solvent free form and two solvates, were elucidated by three-dimensional rotational electron diffraction (3DED/MicroED). This finding presents structural insight of 1 and highlights the potential of MicroED in resolving complex pseudopolymorphic mixtures from a single batch of sample. The ability of porphyrins to spontaneously organize into a highly ordered supramolecular architecture via noncovalent interactions has made them attractive building blocks for functional materials. Such assemblies are fascinating because they can be prepared relatively easily, are biomimetic in nature and exhibit excellent solution processability. Moreover, they give rise to diverse solid state arrangements in response to environmental factors, particularly solvents. This structural versatility has enabled their exploration in a wide range of applications
