Abstract

Metabolic disorders are increasingly linked to epigenetic alterations. SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complexes have emerged as critical modulators of metabolic homeostasis. In this review, we focus on the tissue-specific biological function of SWI/SNF complexes in the pancreas, liver, adipose tissue, and heart, and highlight the dysregulation of chromatin remodeling in metabolic disease progression. Lastly, we discuss therapeutic opportunities targeting chromatin remodeling mechanisms in metabolic disorders.
