Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to compare the global grief literature indexed in the Web of Science (WoS), publications involving researchers affiliated with institutions in Türkiye indexed in WoS, and the national literature indexed in the ULAKBIM TR Index. Method: A comparative bibliometric analysis was conducted using the WoS Core Collection and the ULAKBIM TR Index. Publication trends, citation patterns, collaboration networks, and keyword co-occurrence were analyzed using VOSviewer. Publications in the ULAKBIM dataset additionally underwent manual content analysis. Results: A total of 3,906 WoS publications and 82 publications indexed in the ULAKBIM TR Index were included. Global publication output increased overall over time, particularly after 2020. Publications involving at least one author affiliated with an institution in Türkiye accounted for 2.05% of the Global WoS dataset (n = 80), and although annual publication counts of these publications fluctuated considerably, an overall increasing trend was observed in recent years. The Turkish literature also reflected culturally relevant grief experiences, particularly earthquake-related bereavement. Conclusion: Grief research has shown substantial changes in its conceptual and thematic structure worldwide, while research from Türkiye has demonstrated increasing international visibility. Nevertheless, the national literature remains at a different stage of development.
