Rational liquid selection for liquid assisted grinding using Lewis basicity and affinity scales

  1. 1aMurray State University, USA.

Abstract

Gutmann donor (DN) and acceptor numbers (AN) were correlated with the effectiveness of liquid assisted grinding (LAG) agents in facilitating the production of palladacycle pre-catalysts including Najera Catalyst II, which was mechanosythesized for the first time. Kinetic analysis was completed for the effects of LAG agent selection on rate parameters in the preparation of a 2-aminobiphenyl palladacycle pre-catalyst. While no single LAG agent was the best for all reactions, LAG agents like methanol, ethanol, and formamide with high AN and mid-range DN values were found to be the most effective, significantly increasing yields and reducing reaction times.
