Sinicizatin of the Attitudes Towards Research and Development within Nursing and its reliability and validity test

Abstract

ObjectiveTo translate the Attitudes Towards Research and Development within Nursing(ATRAD⁃N) scale and to test its reliability and validity,so as to provide a tool for assessing Chinese nurses' attitudes toward research.MethodsFollowing Brislin's translation model, the ATRAD⁃N was translated, back⁃translated, cross⁃culturally adapted, and pretested to form the Chinese version of ATRAD⁃N.From May to July 2025,612 nurses from a tertiary grade A hospital in Zhejiang Province were recruited as participants. The Chinese version of ATRAD⁃N was administered in a questionnaire survey to evaluate its reliability and validity.ResultsExploratory factor analysis extracted three common factors:attitudes toward the value of research, attitudes toward the utility of research, and attitudes toward the accessibility of research, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 65.59%.Confirmatory factor analysis indicated a good model fit.The overall Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.945.The Guttman split⁃half reliability coefficient was 0.928.Known⁃group validity testing showed that the scale effectively distinguished between nurses with and without research experience.ConclusionsThe Chinese version of ATRAD⁃N demonstrates good reliability and validity. It can serve as an effective tool for assessing Chinese nurses' attitudes toward nursing research and development.
