Abstract
Each year, billions of animals undertake migratory journeys, resulting in large transfers of energy across the globe. Population declines in many migratory species have affected these, reducing ecosystem resilience. We quantify the value lost and show how conserving migratory species can contribute to climate change adaptation and mitigation, and deliver socio-economic benefits.
