Abstract
Spatial scaling law versus synchrony across seven subnetworks in three brain states: Spatial SL slope plotted against synchrony for seven subnetworks: default mode (DMN), frontoparietal (FPN), sensorimotor (SMN), visual (VN), limbic, subcortical and cerebellar. (A, B) Brain renderings of each subnetwork, including cortical and subcortical regions involved in neurodevelopment and aging. Subnetworks are defined using the AAL atlas. (C–E) Scatterplots of spatial SL slope against synchrony during rest (C), movie watching (D) and a sensorimotor task (E). Each point is one observation, colored by age. Marginal distributions appear on the axes, and fitted regression lines show a negative relationship in most subnetworks. Saha et al. 2026
