Abstract
This case series examines the clinical and radiographic outcomes of central giant cell granulomas (CGCG) of the mandible treated with enucleation, liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, and recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) augmented bone grafting. Five patients were treated with this surgical technique. All patients demonstrated complete radiographic ossification within 6–12 months, without recurrence or major complication. In all patients whose dentition was resected with the pathologic bone (2 of 5), complete dental rehabilitation was achieved, demonstrating functional bone regeneration. This series represents a reliable middle ground between curettage and segmental resection.
