Current status of preventive behaviors for occupational low back pain among 1 847 orthopedic nurses

Abstract

ObjectiveTo investigate the current status of preventive behaviors against occupational low back pain among orthopedic nurses and to analyze its influencing factors,so as to provide evidence for developing targeted intervention measures.MethodsFrom October to December 2025,a total of 1 847 clinical orthopedic nurses from the second grade and above hospitals nationwide were selected as participants.Data were collected using a general information questionnaire and the Chinese version of the Nurses' Preventive Behaviors against Occupational Low Back Pain Scale.ResultsThe total score of preventive behaviors against occupational low back pain among orthopedic nurses was (101.33±21.90),with an average item score of (3.49±0.76),indicating a moderately high level.Linear regression analysis showed that frequency of physical exercise, departmental atmosphere, and age were the main influencing factors of preventive behaviors (P<0.05).ConclusionsOrthopedic nurses showed high motivation in preventing occupational low back pain, but their preventive knowledge needed to be strengthened.Regular physical exercise and a harmonious departmental atmosphere positively correlated with preventive behaviors. However, increasing age was associated with lower preventive behavior scores.
